No contract exists between you and British lighting for the sale of any goods until we have received and accepted your order and payment has been received.
By way of clarification, an acknowledgement of your order will be sent to you via e-mail when you place your order but acceptance of your offer to buy the goods will not take place until after your payment is taken and received. It is at this point that a binding legal contract is created and any contract is subject to these Terms and Conditions.
In addition, under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations you may cancel your order for any reason within seven working days following the day on which you receive the goods. Please ensure that the goods are returned in their unopened original condition, packaging along with any fitting instructions or other paperwork that maybe included.
You should notify us by using this email address returns@britishlighting.com stating the reason for return. we will then send you a returns form. Post this form with the securely packaged goods back to the Returns Department straight away using a recorded delivery service.
We will reimburse you in full on receipt of the returned goods in our warehouse. You will, however, be responsible for the costs of returning the goods to us (unless these goods are faulty or have been delivered by us in error).
The description and price of the goods you order, will be as shown on our website at the time you place your order.
The goods are subject to availability. If on receipt of your order the goods you have ordered are not available from stock, we will inform you as soon as possible and refund or re-credit you for any sum that has been paid by you for the goods.
Every effort is made to ensure that prices shown on our website are accurate at the time you place your order. If an error is found, we will inform you as soon as possible and offer you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price, or cancelling your order. If we do not receive an order confirmation within 14 days of informing you of the error, the order will be automatically cancelled. If you cancel the order, or if the order is cancelled automatically due to the expiry of the 14-day period, we will refund or re-credit you for any sum that has been paid by you for the goods.
In addition to the price, you may be required to pay a delivery charge for the goods, depending on the value of the order. A £5 (five pound) surcharge may be added in the event the carrier has to make a second call to deliver the goods.

British lighting reserves the right to refuse the supply of any goods to any person or company for any reason.
British lighting is committed to providing its customers with the highest quality products and service. However, on rare occasions, products may be found to be faulty or defective. In such cases we offer the returns facilities described below.
In the event that any goods supplied are faulty on receipt, they will be replaced free of charge or your money refunded in full (at our discretion).
Subject to the right of Consumers to return goods for refund under The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 (see Clause 13), British lighting does not sell products on a trial basis. Customers are strongly advised to check suitability and specifications of products before ordering. In some instances, Customers may benefit from special price discounts issued by a manufacturer specifically for their benefit. Such goods are not returnable to the manufacturer and may not be sold to other customers. Accordingly, orders for such goods cannot be cancelled and British lighting can only replace or repair Goods where they prove to be defective. Goods are returned for repair or replacement at the customer’s own expense.
In the event that British lighting, at its discretion, agrees to accept the return for credit of unwanted products, the goods must be returned with British lighting’s prior written agreement within 14 days of delivery. The goods must be unopened, with the manufacturer’s seals intact and in perfect re-saleable condition all goods returned in these circumstances will be subject to a 25% re-stocking fee of British lighting’s sale price for the goods. Please ensure that the product(s) you have purchased are to your specification prior to breaking the manufacturer’s seals. This will avoid disappointment and the product(s) being rejected, should you wish to return them. British lighting cannot accept liability for packages damaged during transit from the Customer. It is the Customer's responsibility to wrap the product adequately to prevent damage.
Unless otherwise stated in the manufacturer's documentation, all goods delivered to a UK mainland address carry a specified manufacturer's warranty. Customers who wish to make a warranty claim must comply with the manufacturer's instructions and warranty procedure. In order to resolve your problem as quickly as possible, we will refer you to the product manufacturer who will deal directly with the return. In these instances, we will provide you with the contact information for the relevant manufacturer. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your statutory rights. This warranty shall not apply if the goods have been worked upon, altered or damaged in any way by the Customer or its employees or agents, or to goods not used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
In the event of any problems our liability will be restricted to the purchase price paid for goods. We accept no liability for consequential damage howsoever caused.
British lighting makes every effort to ensure that all prices and descriptions quoted in its catalogue and on its website are correct and accurate. However, the frenetic tempo of e-commerce makes it inevitable that mistakes will occasionally occur. In the case of a manifest error or omission, British lighting will be entitled to rescind the contract, notwithstanding that it has already accepted the Customer's order and/or received payment from the Customer. British lighting's liability in that event will be limited to the return of any money the Customer has paid in respect of the order. In the case of a manifest error in relation to price, the Customer will be entitled to purchase the goods by paying the difference between the quoted price and the correct price, as confirmed in writing by British lighting after the manifest error has been discovered.
British lighting shall not be liable for any default due to any act of God, war, short fall of manufacturer, strike, lock outs or other industrial action, difficulties in obtaining labour or parts, government or other restriction or regulations or other event beyond the reasonable control of British lighting.
